Come Explore the Stars!- Astronomy Sky Tours
We are pleased to host you for a fascinating night of exploring the stars under the canopy of a dark night sky. You will experience an incredible evening of stargazing guided by Mark who has been exploring the stars for decades. We use large telescopes and high powered laser pointers to guide you through the stars, planets, galaxies, and nebula. We always keep our groups small so that thoughts can be shared and viewing is not rushed. Our tour location is in Hebron, CT.
What to Expect
Expect to lay back in lounge chairs with a cozy blanket in comfort in our enclosed viewing area and thoroughly enjoy the heavens above. Expect really cool stuff like the light of 800 Billion Stars entering into your pupil after traveling 2.5 million years....this is the Andromeda Galaxy...staggering to try to comprehend! Expect to see planetary detail like the rings of Saturn or the great storm and belts of Jupiter. Expect to see things our own galaxy has to offer....like nebula...these are clouds of dust and gas illuminated by surrounding stars and glow in there light...simply beautiful! Expect the unexpected...like a random fireball (large shooting star) or a comet that has just entered our region from deep space....many of these comets are never mentioned in the media since you can only see them by telescope.
As you lay back in comfort looking up at the stars, you will be given an overview of the constellations and the brightest stars in the night sky using a high power laser pointer.
The tour is 60 to 90 minutes and during that time you may have suprise viewings of shooting stars or even a fireball.
After the overview of the night sky, we then give you an up close view of selected celestial objects through one of our powerful telescopes and what we look at will depend on the viewing conditions and what is actually visible that night.
We operate our tours all year long! We provide the lounge chairs and blankets when needed to keep help keep you comfortable.
